ECHS CLASS
OF '59
Well,
the big
evening is now a beautiful memory. The picnic allowed us more
time to
visit with classmates, and the cruisers enjoyed a
great trip.
Those who attended the dinner event know, first-hand, what a success it was! For those who missed it.... here is a little summary:
One
of
the highlights of the evening was a surprise performance by the El
Camino
Band... playing the "Fight Song" and "Alma Mater".
This was even a surprise to the committee who had made arrangements,
because we
anticipated a group of 10-15 band members.... but there were more like
50-60! VERY loud... VERY fun!!!
You
may or may
not be aware of the school's plans to build a 500 seat auditorium, with
scene
shop, orchestra pit, rehearsal rooms, top of the line lighting and
sound, and
an art gallery within the library. Our class has now
participated in the fundraising for this
new endeavor. In addition
to the donation check we had
already planned, generous classmates put $400 into the band hats that
night.
We
had a
slide-show/video presentation that played on a large screen throughout
the
evening. We had great music from the 50's, pre-programmed
on CDs so we
could
control the volume. None of the too-loud-for-conversation music
that we
have experienced at other reunions. The food was good!
Definitely not the usual banquet fare that you can take or leave.
EVERYONE
in
attendance obviously enjoyed the evening. There was no hint of an
"uncomfortable" silence. People went from group to group,
visiting, laughing, hugging... you get the picture. Even the
faculty
"guests" stayed the entire evening. Marcia Haley - still
looking young enough to be one of our classmates.... Fred Kronsbein and
his
wife... LeRoy (Red) Hughes and his wife. They very much
appreciated our
invitation, and felt like the honored guests they truly were.
The
picnic on
Saturday was also nice. Several classmates that had not been to
the
dinner were there.... along with quite a few members of earlier
graduating
classes. The weather was surprising. No one anticipated
cloudy skies,
showers, and wind, but we didn't let any of that interfere with our fun.
The
photographers
took many, many pictures at the Radisson... personal pictures (picnic
and
cruise) will also be added to the CD. Hope you will get your
order in for
this great way to remember our 50th reunion.
If we didn’t know it already, it is now undeniable….. WE ARE MEMBERS OF AN AWESOME GRADUATING CLASS!!!
